History & Background The Ballarat Mid City Motel is the largest accommodation, restaurant, conference and wedding venue in the heart of Ballarat's central CBD. Built to the highest standards and specifications in the early 1970's, the Ballarat Mid City quickly became a favourite among the locals,visitors,tourists as well as attracting visiting celebrities and stars. Today the Ballarat Mid City represents one of the finest 70's organic style architecture in Ballarat. Designed by Warrnambool architect, Bruce Auty, as part of the Mid City chain, this two storey complex boast a double atrium water scupture feature wall depicting Ballarat's Goldrush history. Constructed predorminantly with local Selkirk bricks and incorporating materials such as teak, oregon, carrera white marble, copper, glass mosaic tiles, anodised aluminium framework and glass.
The Mid City Hotel offers 71 accommodation suites with an outdoor swimming pool, onsite parking, There is also a large commercial kitchen on the premises which serves the 80-seat restaurant, a 160-seat Ball room which incorporates a dance floor and two smaller function rooms.
